But with a few hours opening up in the afternoon, my mind turned entirely to kite flying. Having recently caught the Kite Aerial Photography bug all over again, I spent the previous evening meticulously packing my backpack with every piece of gear required for the expedition.

I rely on a strict checklist to make sure nothing gets left behind, because standing on a windy beach or a rugged headland only to realize you are missing a vital component is a quick way to ruin a flight.

The plan for the day was ambitious: launch over a striking cliff formation on Jeløy known locally as Hesteberget. According to the latest weather forecast, the wind direction was supposed to line up perfectly, leaving me feeling optimistic as I packed up and headed out.

However, upon arriving at the parking area, a wave of doubt crept in. Was the wind actually blowing from the precise angle the meteorologists predicted, or was it tracking a bit too far to the south? Either way, there was certainly no shortage of it—the air was heavy with power, meaning kite flying of some sort was guaranteed. But the real dilemma remained: could I safely fly at Hesteberget, or would I have to trigger Plan B?
