…and the Black Edge was also ready. Close to perfect conditions for this ‘somewhat’ vented kite, around 4m/sec which translates into 9’ish mph. Being on the beach and the wind coming in from the water is certainly no disadvantage. The wind was nice and steady.
The December days can be pretty dark up here, and especially when it’s overcast like today. One better takes advantage of what daylight there is and using the manual ISO and white balance settings to my likings I was ready to shoot some video!
Since the Black Edge’s initial flight, I’ve cut all the loose ends from the bridle legs. The bridle was more or less spot on, so no major tweaks was necessary.
The next modification will be to fit the kite with a somewhat stiffer leading edge. Check out the video below, and if you look closely you can see the LE flexes a bit too much, at least for my likings. This will slightly deform the sail and the kite is not quite as crisp and responsive as I like it to be.
Today the leading edge is Skyshark P90 for the middle rod and Skyshark P100 for the outer ones. I have a gut feeling that using a P100 for the middle rod and P200 for the outer will take the kite even closer to my likings.
Stay tuned and I’ll let you know!

Love it
I quite like it myself ☺️
Like I say in the post, the LE needs to be a little stiffer. I’ll bring a somewhat stiffer LE setup the next time. Then fly it for fifteen minutes or so with the softer LE, then replace the LE and see (and feel) what happens. ??
