It was pretty windy all day long and a glorious spring day with temperatures hovering at about +12°C, which is not bad for a day in March!

So my plan was to go flying in the evening and keep on flying until dark.

When I pulled in to the parking at the beach I was kind of worried. The wind had really calmed down and I thought it would die all down. Arriving at the beach and … hmmmmm… Was this flyable?

Yes, I know anything can fly if you work hard enough, but the beach offered me little space on the ground for running and I’m still not that comfortable flying quad kites in no-wind conditions.

Well, gotta give it a go so I assembled the A Quad, hooked it up to the lines and got ready to launch. It was actually difficult to read the wind direction, but it seemed to come in from the north-west.

Wow! The A Quad did fly! Yes, I had to make an effort, but it was not as hard or difficult as anticipated. I could to some decent flying and as a proof of the close to no wind conditions, I did several 360’ies despite the limited space.

It was rather like guiding the kite in the air. Subtle input not to jerk I out of the sky and pay attention to keep the sail loaded and the A Quad delivered!

Below you can take a look at the video I shot. The wind is clocking in at about 1 m/sec which converts to somewhere between 2 and 2.5 mph.

Really REALLY Low Wind
