In the year of 2003, the reasonably hyped up new kite from French kite maker R-Sky became available on the market.
The Nirvana
It was to become the predecessor of the already pretty famous Opium by the same kite maker. However, judging by the videos ‘leaked’ on YouTube, the new Nirvana seemed to … “rule them all”.
In the year of 2003, I was also running a tiny (mostly online) kite shop, and I purchased six Nirvanas from the very first commercially available production batch. When the parcel finally arrived, I was like a child on Christmas Eve and as soon as the weather permitted I hit the field with that new Nirvana kite.
I fell completely for the kite! I flew it literally for thousands of hours both solo and with the AERIALIS Team Flyers. I still pull out one of my …eight I think it is … Nirvanas every now and then and I just love the feeling and how it brings back oh so many great memories!
Here’s a kind of tribute to that game-changing (at least for me) kite, the Nirvana, by French R-Sky. Thank you, Mr. Roger T. G.!
The video above was shot by Kjetil Sahlberg at Blokhus Beach during the Nordic Kite Meeting 2003. The Nirvana is one of the first-ever commercially available of it’s kind and I have flown it for …. yes… MANY hours!
