Like every year, I’ve made myself a checklist with everything that needs to be done before heading south to Denmark. Some tasks are quick and easy. Others take a bit more time — especially when you have an entire collection of team kites that have been resting in hibernation since last season.
Are they still perfectly tuned?
Did the storage winter treat them kindly?
Or are there hidden surprises waiting inside the kite bags?
Today it was time for the dual-line kites to come out for inspection.
Before long, the terrace was completely covered in Nirvanas and other high-end dual-line machines, all waiting for their annual check-up before the big trip. Line sets were stretched, spars inspected, sails checked carefully against the light, and fittings examined one by one.
Thankfully, most of the kites were already in great shape.
In fact, the entire session revealed only one broken lower spreader and a couple of tiny holes in two sails that needed patching. Considering the number of kites involved, that is definitely a result I can live with.
And now?
They are all ready for another full week of flying on the beaches of Denmark.
The countdown continues.
Here’s a quick video clip from today’s maintenance and test session:
