But I certainly was ready to give it a go! So I got up really early in the morning and soon I was on my way, no, not to the beach, but to the stable to let out the horses, feed them and make sure everything was all right. Mission Completed and now I was ready to do some flying.
Still reasonably early in the morning and I was driving in the direction of my planned flying spot. A fifteen minutes drive and another fifteen minutes walk and I find myself at one of my favourite flying spots. I call it My Little Lagoon, and it’s exposed to winds from the north, via the west to the south and depending on the tide, the landscape is shifting all the time. It’s a super cool place to fly and my plan was to go there and fly some kites!
However, this place is kind of interesting depending on the tide. When high tide, most of the sandbanks are submerged and there is very little dry land to fly from. At low tide the spot is perfect! The sandbanks are available to fly from and you can play with the water in the shallow lagoon! Lately, the tide had been much higher than normal. I don’t know really, something about a combination of the moon, the wind and the weather…well. I checked the tide table and found that the tide was at its highest in the morning then slowly turning into a low tide. Hopefully, I would be there on low tide making it possible to fly.
Another part of my plan was to do a lot of drone footage of me flying kites. So I had both drones powered up with fully charged batteries ready at hand. However, as I neared the parking, there was no wind! Well, there are no problems flying in no wind conditions, but in my all worked out plan, I was to do some flying in the real wind because I still need to practice on my drone footage kite flying, and that’s much easier to practice in a nice breeze.
Well, I parked the car and started the fifteen minutes or so walk down to the beach. Hmmmm… could I feel a slight draft of wind coming off the water?
Well, why not check out the video and see what happened!
