I ran, well, not quite, but it didn’t take long from leaving work until I was on the beach ready to fly! Like I planned, I packed all the required stuff into my car yesterday evening. Kites, KAP-rig, cameras, lines, gloves and whatnot. That certainly saved me some time and just like forecasted, the wind came in from a South Westerly direction. ?
I opted for the Peter Lynn Pilot for my lifter of the day in the medium winds of the afternoon. It soon was up there and pretty stable too in the onshore wind. I wondered if I should fit it with a tail, but it seemed to be good without it so I left the tail in the rucksack.
Soon I fixed the KAP rig to the line, connected the GoPro to my phone and up it all went while filming the surroundings while the sun slowly sank towards the horizon well into the golden hour.
Judging by the images on my phone it looked like I was able to capture pretty good footage from way up there. And just like forecasted, the wind slowly eased off as the sun sunk even closer to the horizon.
After an hour or so, the Pilot didn’t create enough pull to keep the rig up there anymore so I decided to bring down the rig, pack up my stuff and head back home.
The first KAP Session of the year and a pretty good one too! ?
