Summer’s Still Here and the Winds are Smooth!
I’m not the only one enjoying the summer. The parking by the beach was packed with cars on my arrival so I had to find another place to park the car. It was worth it!

Yeah, the parking was packed with cars so I was anticipating there would be loads of people on the beach too, but when I got there it wasn’t so bad. Plenty of space for flying. I guess most of the people had to be somewhere else than on the beach. Well, that’s fine with me! 😉

This beach is called Teibern Beach and it’s shaped like a little lagoon. A nice and sandy beach surrounded by a couple of small islands, of which one of them is connected to the mainland by a sandbank making the island accessible at low tide.

This is also a kite surfing heaven with quite safe surroundings and nice places for both launching and landing. As long as they don’t present a danger to the swimmers. Usually, they work it out. Today the conditions were just perfect for the kiters with this rather strong sea breeze blowing more or less along the beach. It was good for single-lined kites too, so I put up a couple before I pulled the triple vented green kite outta the bag. Yes, triple vented was definitely the right kite for this heavy sea breeze.

So what more is to say…? Enjoy the scenery, enjoy the wind and enjoy the flying! That’s what I did!

  1. 1:10 Hmm…, Seeing this, I get reminded that I ought to do some much neglected one hand piloting practice…

The LE spar looks a bit flexible when landing on a wing tip (or was it only a result of the determined landings?). Are these spars the preferred ones in this wind or was it what happened to be in the quad when starting?

    1. Hi!

One hand flying! Yeah, I’ve done a bit of that lately and it’s big fun. Find a day when the wind is strong enough for the kite to fly “by itself” but not so strong you’re knackered after just a few seconds. Hold the handles like chopsticks and you’re in for some fun … and probably some crashes, so flying on a grassy field is a good idea! 😉

The somewhat soft LE…. Yes, this kite was made at a workshop back in 2011 and I guess we just picked the rods available. IIRC it’s all Skyshark P200, and you sure can get stiffer rods than those, but … I kind of like the feel of the kite so I stick with them. 🙂
