Well, maybe not quite a storm, but really strong winds nevertheless. Then an A-Quad Storm is perfect for the conditions!

My Plan A for the day was to shoot footage for the Clockwork Tutorial, but already while driving to the beach I could see the the wind probably was a bit too much. You know, when I shoot for a tutorial I would like to have as perfect wind as possible. Too light and I’m more focused on keeping that kite in the air and too much I’m doing my best to brace myself not getting blown out of my socks.

And I was right. When I got to the beach it was way too windy and too variable to shoot decent footage for that tutorial so I switched over to Plan B, just fly! Which is never a bad option!

With winds like today, the A-Quad Storm is a good choice. That kite kills the edge of those high winds and smoothen the gusts. So the Storm was about to hit the … storm!

  1. A quad that is more holes than rip-stop – would be interesting to try! Actually here in Stockholm (Sweden) a Rev (B-series) full-vent is almost always sufficient in hard winds (and actually quite rarely required).
