As I mentioned in my previous post, the wind wasn’t quite dead when I arrived at the flying spot at Hestholmen so rather than flying an absolutely zero wind kite, I started out with a quad kite. The Wind Vale, a kite that I built a couple of years ago.
This kite is not a zero wind kite, but it does fly in winds from about 1 meter per second, so yes, it is a light wind kite! And it was absolutely doing its job as I took it for a spin!
The Wind Vale has a pretty interesting bridle setup – I won’t go into details on it in this post – that will give this kite a somewhat different feel in the air. The bridle combined with a reasonably soft leading edge will make the sail of the kite really belly the wind and make the most out of it. Especially when in an inverted position. Flic flac’ing is also a breeze (no pun intended) with this kite!
But now, let’s cut the crap and watch it fly!
