I think the Rokkaku is one of the best kites for kicking off your kite building career! It’s easy to make and I really love the beauty of its simplicity. Being a super flyer makes it even better. So why not dig out that old sewing machine, blow the dust of it and come make a Rokkaku with me!
Right now I’m gathering all the tools and materials I need for the build and I’m also doing the script for the How-To video. The script will assure I touch upon all the required details and – maybe – drop a few things not that important for keeping things simple.
Yes, I know. The sail of a Rokkaku kite can be used as a canvas for your creativity. There’s no limit to what intricate patterns you can applique onto the sail or how many pieces you can combine to make a full sail. I however, will keep things simple using one big piece of fabric only for my build. For two reasons…. Like said before, first to keep things simple and second I like the simplicity of using one piece of fabric only adds to the beautifully simple kite.
So if you are looking for a kite for which to start your kite building career, why not stay tuned and I’ll guide all the way to having that kite soaring up there!
