Yesterday was warm! The mercury crawled up close to +30C and it was quite a revelation when the sea breeze started in the afternoon cooling things down … a little!
I decided to wait until the evening before I got into my car and drove away to Paradise Beach some twenty minutes from my house. Hopefully, waiting until eight o’clock in the evening the beach would not be too crowded and there would be space enough for flying. I was spot on! When I got to the beach it was plenty of space for me to fly and soon I had the Zaephay up there playing with a slight draft coming pretty much in from the water.
Pure bliss!
You know, when flying a kite in such low winds, you guide the kite more than fly it. Adjusting the pressure in the kite’s sail by moving around on the ground and stretching out and pulling in your arms to guide the kite up there. It’s so satisfying to have the kite up close and be responsible for the wind, the pressure in the sail, yourself.
Then the wind decided to die down even more and ended up as just a whisker from the water. I decided to change my flying lines from 10 meters to my 3-meter indoor lines. Yes, the wind was that low! So with a much shorter set of lines, I continued to fly into the sunset on this wonderful Norwegian summer evening!
