…the temperature is hovering around a perfect 24 to 25 degrees, and a super-steady onshore breeze is blowing in from the water. To top it all off, I have the beach pretty much to myself. For anyone who loves the sport of kiting, you already know the answer to the golden question. Perfect conditions…? Yes, absolutely!
There is something deeply special about the Norwegian summer. We wait through long, dark winters and unpredictable spring weather just for a handful of days like this. When the elements align so perfectly, you don’t hesitate—you pack your gear, head for the coastline, and let the wind take over.
The Gear: Dialing in the A-Quad Hardcore
For this session, I decided to unpack the A-Quad Hardcore. If you are familiar with quad-lined kites, you know that they offer an unparalleled level of control, allowing you to hover, reverse, and spot-land with inches of precision. But to truly maximize the fun in today’s steady onshore breeze, I rigged it up on short 10-meter flying lines.
Flying on 10-meter lines changes the game entirely. It tightens the window, accelerates the kite’s reaction time, and brings the action right into your face. There is no room for lag or sloppy inputs.
The result? Pure magic. The kite reacted flawlessly to every micro-movement of my wrists. It felt less like I was pulling handles and more like the kite was an extension of my own thoughts. Out there at the end of the lines, it was doing exactly what I imagined, tracing sharp squares, sudden stops, and tight spins across the blue sky.
Lost in the Flow State
Ahhhh…. when the Norwegian summer days are like this, it truly is the best you can get!
I honestly don’t know for sure how many hours I spent out on the sand today. When you are in the zone like that, time loses all meaning. I was completely locked into my own bubble—just me, the handles, the A-Quad, and the steady hum of the wind. It’s a form of active meditation that leaves you feeling absolutely great, completely refreshed, and deeply connected to the elements.
With the beach nearly empty, there were no distractions. No crowds to watch out for, no tangled lines, just open space and clean air. It was the ultimate way to kick off a well-deserved summer vacation.
