Believe it or not, AERIALIS Kites has had a TikTok profile for quite some time. The only problem was that it had been gathering digital dust for what felt like ages. Like many social media projects, it quietly slipped into the background while the focus stayed on flying kites, creating content for the website, and enjoying the outdoors.
Not long ago, however, I decided to put together a short vertical video in the now-familiar 9:16 format. Nothing overly ambitious—just a quick glimpse into the world of kite flying—and uploaded it to TikTok.
Then something unexpected happened.
A little later later, an email landed in my inbox announcing that the video was about to reach 2,000 views!
For a profile that had barely been active, that was a pleasant surprise!
Encouraged by the response, I sat down and created a couple more short-form videos. They were uploaded to TikTok as well, and it didn’t take long before those started finding their own audience too.
It’s always fun to see people discovering kite flying through short, engaging clips. While nothing can replace the experience of standing on a beach with a kite dancing in the wind, these bite-sized videos offer a great way to share the hobby with people who may never have seen modern sport kites in action before.
So, what happens next?
We’ll see!
There are no promises about a strict upload schedule, but there’s a good chance that you’ll spot a few more 9:16 videos appearing throughout the summer. After all, if people enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy making them, it seems like a win-win.
If you happen to be on TikTok, feel free to stop by the newly dusted-off AERIALIS Kites profile. There may just be a steady stream of kite flying, smooth tricks, scenic flying locations, and a few surprises waiting for you in the weeks ahead.
See you in the sky—and maybe on TikTok!
