From Two Flyers to Thousands of Spectators
Some traditions begin with grand plans and ambitious visions. Others start with just two people standing on a beach.

Back in 1999, two kite flyers met on the Danish coast with nothing more than a shared passion for kites and a desire to spend time in the sky. What began as a simple gathering has, over the years, grown into something far bigger than anyone could have imagined.

Today, that small meeting has evolved into the annual Nordic Kite Meeting, a week-long gathering that serves as a warm-up for the spectacular Blokhus Windfestival—an event that literally attracts thousands of visitors to the beach every year.

One thing makes this story particularly remarkable: the tradition has never been broken.

Since 1999, the Nordic Kite Meeting has taken place every single year. Even during the global pandemic in 2020, when many events around the world were cancelled, a smaller version of the meeting was still organized. The spirit of the gathering proved stronger than the challenges of the time.

As the event has continued to grow, expectations have naturally grown with it. Every year brings the same question:

Can we deliver once again?

The answer this year was a resounding yes.

The 2026 edition was organized almost flawlessly. Nearly a full week of informal flying, socializing, and preparation during the Nordic Kite Meeting gradually built excitement toward the main event: the Blokhus Windfestival during the Pentecost weekend.

And what a weekend it was.

The beach was filled with thousands of spectators enjoying kites of every imaginable shape, size, and color. From giant inflatables and artistic single-line displays to high-performance sport kites, the sky over Blokhus became a living canvas.

One of the festival’s biggest attractions—and a true crowd favorite—is team flying.

Synchronized flying of dual-line and quad-line kites combines precision, timing, skill, and trust between pilots. When several kites move as one across the sky, the result is both visually stunning and technically impressive.

This year was no exception.

The AERIALIS Team Flyers performed a total of ten demonstration flights throughout the festival, showcasing coordinated routines and precision flying for the thousands gathered on the beach.

Fortunately, the weather was mostly on our side. With steady winds blowing in from the North Sea and plenty of sunshine, conditions were ideal for both pilots and spectators. When the wind cooperates, magic happens.

The response was overwhelmingly positive.

The audience loved it. The festival organizers were delighted. And the AERIALIS Team Flyers left the beach with big smiles and plenty of great memories.

But the best part?

You can experience a piece of that excitement yourself.

Sit back, press play, and join us in the sky as we share highlights from another unforgettable year at the Nordic Kite Meeting and Blokhus Windfestival.

After all, what started with two people on a Danish beach in 1999 has become one of the most enduring traditions in Nordic kite flying—and the story is still being written.

This version is written in a magazine-style storytelling format that works well for a kite website, helps build emotional connection, and naturally leads into an embedded video of the team flying demonstrations.
