When doing team flying demos in Denmark, on the windy north-western beaches of Blokhus you might get your fair share of wind! I’ve been there, I’ve flown in CRAZY winds. But you’re in for a struggle without the right kite for the conditions. And flying in a team, trying to fly the kites synchronized, well, that’s far from a walk in the park.
Last year at the Nordic Kite Meeting there were periods when the wind was hilarious and we had two options left. One option was to fly our HW Nirvanas with ‘diapers’ … which alters the general flight characteristics or fly the ATF Hardcores – a kite that none of us like to fly.
We tried both alternatives, but you know, could there be other alternatives worthwhile investigating?
So we got together (online) and discussed the opportunities and ended up with a third alternative; a Nirvana with more ventilation than the HW – High Wind: the SHW – the Super High Wind!
So Anders closed himself inside his cave and started to work on what would become our tool for flying in those Super High Winds that some times sweep the north-western Danish shores. His work in progress has been documented in photos and in the gallery below you can see a kite being born!
Bring on the wind!
