Well, I didn’t have to, but I was quite curious about what AI would suggest I’d bring. So here’s what came out …
“…When heading to the beach for a week of kite flying, it’s important to pack wisely to ensure a fun and comfortable experience. Here are some essentials you should bring:
- Kite(s) and Kite Gear:
Bring along your kites, kite lines, and any other kite accessories you might need, such as a kite bag, a kite reel, or a kite stake. You might also want to bring a pump, spare parts, and a repair kit. - Sun Protection:
The beach can be a sunny place, so it’s important to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays. Bring along sunscreen with a high SPF, a hat, sunglasses, and a long-sleeved shirt. - Comfortable Clothing:
Make sure to pack comfortable clothing for the beach, such as shorts, t-shirts, and swimsuits. You may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. - Beach Gear:
Don’t forget to bring beach essentials like towels, a beach blanket, beach chairs or a beach umbrella, and a cooler to keep your drinks and snacks cold. - Water Bottles:
Staying hydrated is key when spending time outside, so bring along a few water bottles that you can refill throughout the day. - Snacks and Food:
Pack snacks like fruit, granola bars, or trail mix, as well as easy-to-make meals like sandwiches or wraps, to keep your energy up during long kite-flying sessions. - Entertainment:
When you’re not flying kites, you’ll want to have some downtime activities to enjoy. Bring along books, magazines, board games, or a portable speaker for music. - First Aid Kit:
It’s always a good idea to bring along a small first aid kit in case of any minor injuries or accidents.
By packing these essentials, you’ll be well-prepared for a week of kite flying on the beach and ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. …”
So what do you think? Did AI do a good job on this one?
IMO it was not too bad, but as an experienced kite flyer and kite festival attendee, I have a few comments.
First things first …
WHERE’S THE COFFEE???
‘Cause you never leave home – for a kite event especially – without it!
Jokes aside… Like said, it wasn’t so bad, but I’d like to add a few things – in addition to coffee:
- Banners and poles:
Never leave home without it! ‘Cause you need to be visible on the beach, at least AERIALIS Kites think so. And what’s better than putting up a load of colourful stuff?! - Linejunk and similar:
More stuff for visibility on the beach and in the air. Launch a handful of SLKs and attach line junk to the flying lines. Definitely an attention grabber! - Wind protection:
Staying in windy conditions for a more extended period of time can be quite tiring. But if you put up a couple of wind shelters, you can take breaks from the ever-blowing winds. Works wonders! - Gas- or charcoal barbeque:
Yes, of course you can go for sandwiches, but nothing beats a meal prepared on a charcoal barbeque! - Camera/s and equipment:
I love to shoot videos and take photos so I always bring my camera equipment with me. - Spare parts, repair tools etc:
Every now and then something breaks. Make sure to bring the right spare parts, tools or whatnot for a quick field repair.
Now…. That’s more like it! If I go to the Nordic Kite Meeting with every item above checked, I’m pretty certain I’ve brought everything I need for making it a great kite festival.
…or…?
