I had a slight hope that the wind would calm down a little yesterday so I could give the Red and Shiny a quick spin before it got too dark. But nope. Rather than calming down it increased and it was no way I would send it up there.
Today started windy as well. Still way too much for the 1.8m rokkaku. But according to the weather forecast, it was supposed to ease off some time in the afternoon.
And it did. At around four o’clock it was down to around 3, maybe 4 m/sec, onshore and stable, so I decided to give it a go. The kite was already sitting in the back of my car, so I hit the road and five minutes later a I was at the beach.
I popped the kite out of its sleeve, assembled it and attached the flying line. I quick adjustment of the bridle and up she went!
Wow! In the nice breeze the rokkaku was incredibly stable up there. The shiny fabric of the sail made a great impression against the somewhat clouded sky. Majestic!
