In the summertime the most common wind direction is south. That’s nice because a lot of the local beaches are facing that direction. So when the wind is coming in from the water there’s always a nice beach to fly on pretty close at hand.
Almost in the middle of town you find one of the most popular local beaches. On a nice and sunny summer day it’s packed with people. Well, for obvious reasons, not as packed this year as it used to be, but still too many people for a decent quality kite flying workout.
Today however I was out of bed by eight in the morning and after some domestic duties I went to that popular beach to see if it was flyable. It sure was. Before nine o’clock there was not a soul in sight and a nice breeze came in from the south west. Perfect!
I was in a little doubt of which kite to fly,but ended up with a vented one. The wind would definitely be in its lower wind range, but I thought I’d give it a go anyway.
It worked just fine. Nothing builds your flying skills like when flying in the light winds. Just like today!
All along the beach there is this boardwalk and interesting objects to include in your flying. Just like the small beach shower shelter. Loads of fun tapping it with all parts of your kite, kind of having everything under control. …and if not, you can always cut the mishaps before you upload the video to YouTube! ?
