I was fooling around on the Internet this morning and then I kinda stumbled upon this video with a guy flying his duallie in a somewhat untraditional way

With both flying lines attached to some kind of a “steering bar” he flew that kite with one hand only and it looked way cool!

Yes, I know… There’s nothing revolutionary about this way of flying. But like said, it looked really cool and definitely something I’d like to try. So I went down to the basement and started looking for the bits and pieces I would need to make such a “steering bar”. A piece of bridle line, a wooden dowel, some electrical tape, an electric drill …and I think that was all.

First I made two pigtails from the bridle line.

Two pigtails

Then I put some electric tape around both ends of the dowel and drilled a hole through the dowel at each end. Finally I fixed the pigtails to the dowel and it was pretty much ready.

Now all I need is a kite!

So I grabbed a couple of kites, threw the lot into the car and headed for the beach.

And the rest of it is in the video below!

With one hand only!
