As you might know, I’ve started to play around with AI, and quite frankly, this is kinda scary!

I have been using Midjourney to create images, just like the one I’m using as a featured image for this post. Now I’m digging deeper into the usage of AI and I’ve created an account at ChatGPT using GPT-3.

GPT-3 (short for “Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3”) is a large-scale artificial intelligence language model developed by OpenAI. It is designed to generate human-like text and can be used to perform a wide range of language-based tasks, such as translation, summarization, question-answering, and text generation.

GPT-3 is trained on a massive dataset of text from the internet, and it uses machine learning techniques to learn the patterns and structures of language. It can then generate text that is coherent and resembles human writing.

GPT-3 has received a lot of attention in the media and the tech industry due to its impressive capabilities and the potential it has for applications in a variety of fields. However, it has also raised some concerns about the potential for misuse or abuse of the technology.

I asked the tool a few questions about kites and kite flying, and the results were pretty amazing, yet scary.

OK, let’s go…

Me: What is a kite?

AI: A kite is a tethered flying object that is typically made of lightweight materials such as paper, plastic, or fabric and is held aloft by the wind. Kites are traditionally flown for recreation and sport, but they have also been used for scientific and military purposes. Kites are usually flown by attaching a string or line to their tails and controlling the kite’s movement by manipulating the line. Kites can be designed in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and they can be flown in a variety of conditions, including strong winds and thermals. Some people enjoy kite flying as a hobby, while others compete in organized kite flying competitions.

Me: Why should I pick up kiting?

AI: There are several reasons why someone might want to pick up kiting as a hobby or activity:

  • Fun and excitement: Kiting can be a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy being outdoors and experiencing the thrill of flying a kite.
  • Exercise: Flying a kite requires physical activity, such as running and jumping, which can be a good way to get some exercise.
  • Relaxation: Kiting can be a relaxing and meditative activity, especially if you enjoy the peaceful feeling of being outside in nature.
  • Social interaction: Kiting can be a great way to meet new people and make friends, especially if you participate in kite flying events or join a kite flying club.
  • Educational: Kiting can also be a educational activity, as it can teach you about the physics of flight, weather patterns, and the history of kites.

Overall, kiting is a fun and enjoyable activity that can provide physical, mental, and social benefits. Whether you’re looking for excitement, exercise, relaxation, or social interaction, kiting may be a good activity to try.

Me: How can I get started with kiting?

AI: Here are some steps you can take to get started with kiting:

  • Choose a kite: There are many different types of kites to choose from, such as single-line kites, stunt kites, and power kites. Consider your skill level and the type of kiting you want to do when selecting a kite.
  • Learn about kite safety: Kiting can be a fun and safe activity, but it’s important to follow some basic safety guidelines to ensure that you and those around you are protected. This includes selecting a safe location to fly your kite, knowing how to properly handle your kite and line, and following any local laws or regulations regarding kite flying.
  • Practice: Once you have your kite and you understand the safety guidelines, it’s time to start practicing. Find an open space with steady winds, and try to get your kite airborne. It may take some time and practice to get the hang of it, but don’t get discouraged.
  • Join a kite flying group: If you want to meet other kite enthusiasts and learn more about kiting, consider joining a kite flying group or club. These groups often organize kite flying events and can provide a supportive community for learning and improving your kite flying skills.
  • Explore different types of kiting: There are many different ways to enjoy kiting, such as stunt kite flying, power kite sports, and kiteboarding. As you become more comfortable with kiting, consider trying out different types of kites and activities to find what you enjoy most.

Well… I don’t know about you, but I must admit that I’m really impressed by the answers the AI came up with. And pretty scared too!

I’d love to hear your opinions too, so feel free to drop me a line in the comments below.
