At least three of us were ready for some team flying action after a couple of years in some kind of Covid hibernation. At the kite meeting, Farid, Anders and I met again after a looking break and we were all sooo ready to fly as the AERIALIS Team Flyers again.
So our kite bags were filled with our preferred team kites, Nirvanas for dual lined flying and A-Quads for quad lined flying. Everything from the SULs to the kites for the strong wind conditions. All the line sets were ready to see some air and make our kites dance (reasonably) synchronized up there in the sky.
Anders had been putting together a routine for the meeting that would go well no matter how many lines we were to use for controlling our kites. This routine was combining mostly well-known elements with some new stuff tossed in. I must admit that I was kind of worried that we were about to chew over more than we could bite, but already after the first day, we had it all down. I guess we weren’t that rusty after all.
For the sake of looks, we decided to put tails on both our quads and duals. The tails looked cool and they also became handy when looking for the correct spacing (between the kites).
Wow! It was such a blast to fly together as a team again! Yes, I really love to fly kites by myself too but flying together as a team really add another dimension to the flying. Making it more demanding but oh so much more satisfactory … when you get it right!
In the video below, I’ve made a compilation of the team flying we did at the festival. We did dual lined flying, quad lined flying and we even combined the two types of kites in one routine. Really, really fun!
I really hope you’ll like the video!
