So I decided to fly some kites! 🙂
But like said in the excerpt, the day started pretty miserably. When I woke up it was raining, but it didn’t take long until the rain turned into snow, wet and heavy snow. Soon the snow covered the ground and it seemed like outdoor kite flying was out of the question.
Thankfully it was just temporary! A few hours later, after the snowing had turned into rain again, the layer of snow covering the ground in the morning was gone and the rain had stopped. The wind was picking up too and I might have a chance to go flying nevertheless. There were even a few patches of blue sky up there so I decided to give it a go. After having a thumbs up from my wife I stuffed a ton of kites into the back of my Kite Mobile and soon I hit the road!
At the parking by the beach, it wasn’t at all as crowded as yesterday. In addition to the Kite Mobile, there were only two more cars, so I probably would have the beach all to myself. Maybe I would attract some audience with my kites, ’cause I had a plan! In my collection of kites, I have a large Power Sled (36) from Premier Kites. When flying that kite I normally use its ‘bag’ as tail, but not this time. I also have a 100 feet tube tail stuffed down into another bag of mine and why not combine the two? You know, the large Power Sled and the 100 feet tail?
With the flying line, the kite and the tail spread out on the grass, ready to launch, I rigged my video camera on a tripod so that I would capture the kite and its tail as it – hopefully – would climb up into the air.
…and this is pretty much what it all looked like!
