On the way to the stable where we have our horses there is this lake, now frozen, that makes for an excellent flying field. The ice is about 25-30cm (10-12″) so no worries, it’s safe! ?
There’s also large parking just 100m or so away from the lake and yesterday at about 15:30 I pulled my car into the parking, dressed up properly for the winterish conditions, grabbed a handful of light wind kites and walked onto the ice.
I found myself a nice spot to fly, where what was of wind was coming in pretty much undisturbed.
My first kite out of the bag was the Feather, my favourite zero wind kite, and a 20m (65ft) line set. Actually, the temperature in the sun out there in the middle of the frozen lake was pretty comfortable. No jacket required!
…and off course the Feather was up to the conditions too!
