On March 31st WordPress released the version 5.4 and off course urged everybody to upgrade to this latest version. However, I know by experience that such an upgrade might cause (minor) issues on a production site like this one. Mostly these issues are minor, but you never know!
So before I did the upgrade, I decided to take a closer look at the routines for backups. I’m using the excellent WordPress Management system delivered by ManageWP. This tool is free, but you can add functionality by subscription. Now the time was right to add daily backups to my plan!
Daily backups come for a reasonable price, only $2 per month. Quite a low price to pay for this feature. And if I had subscribed to this feature before the hacker attack, it would have taken me minutes to restore a clean backup, rather than days of going through all that SQL injected stuff manually!
But now the AERIALIS Kites website is backed up on a daily basis, enhancing the website security and I can sleep safely at night!
