Living in four different countries certainly keeps things interesting for our team, but it also makes full squad gatherings a rare logistical challenge. However, when a complete reunion isn’t in the cards, we always make the most of partial meetups whenever the opportunity strikes. This past weekend provided the perfect occasion as the skies called us to one of Europe’s most iconic coastal events: the Rømø Kite Festival. Representing the team on the golden sands of Lakolk were none other than Farid W and Marco R, ready to put on a show.
As anyone who has attended coastal kite festivals knows, the weather can be a fickle beast. Rumors quickly began swirling around the festival grounds about dramatic weather shifts and intense, unpredictable wind conditions. True to form, the elements kept everyone on their toes. But as every dedicated kite flier knows, patience pays off. Eventually, the heavy cloud cover parted to reveal patches of brilliant blue sky, and the wind transitioned from chaotic gusts to a steady, cooperative flow.
With the conditions finally playing in their favor, Farid and Marco wasted no time. They headed straight for the wide-open expanse of the Lakolk beach, a location renowned among stunt kite enthusiasts for its massive tidal flats and reliable coastal airflows. Recognizing the lingering strength of the breeze, they opted for specialized gear, unpacking a pair of heavily vented high-wind kites designed specifically to handle aggressive atmospheric pressure without losing stability or responsiveness.
Once the lines were stretched and the kites tuned, they launched into a synchronized pair-flying routine. Despite the challenging background conditions that had many other fliers packing up their gear, Farid and Marco executed a masterclass in dual-line precision. Their performance featured tight formations, razor-sharp corners, and seamless transitions that showcased years of collective experience and deep pilot synergy.
Fortunately for those of us who couldn’t make the trip to Denmark, the entire session was captured on video. Watching the footage reveals a run that is executed almost to perfection, proving that even partial team meetups can produce world-class flying content.
