So often, we see fast-paced, high-energy edits set to intense soundtracks. But in my latest project, “LoFi on a Pale Beach,” I wanted to take a refreshingly different route.
This video is a passion project of mine—a masterclass in slow television that merges the technical grace of quad-line kite flying with the soothing, nostalgic atmosphere of a classic lofi track [01:21]. If you’re looking for a bit of coastal inspiration or just need a moment to unwind, I’d love to share the story behind it.
The Vibe: Windswept Serenity
My goal was to transport you directly to a quiet, windswept coastline. The video opens with a panoramic view of the actual flying location, then a lonely sailboat drifting in the distance. It’s all about capturing the sensory feeling of a breezy day by the water.
Once the lines are laid out, the real focus begins. Instead of aggressive, snappy maneuvers, I wanted to showcase incredibly smooth, slow-tempo control. The quad-line stunt kite glides, hovers, and floats effortlessly just feet above the breaking waves. I also went with a soft, pastel-toned color grading to enhance that “pale beach” aesthetic, aiming to make every frame feel like a living postcard.
The Soundtrack: Bringing the Music and Wind Together
What truly elevates this flight demonstration into an immersive experience is the music. The video features my own track, “Pale Beach” (released under my project, Aerialis K.), which leans heavily into a relaxed lofi vibe.
The song kicks off with a warm, rhythmic bassline and crisp percussion, eventually introducing airy, dreamlike vocals. The reflective lyrics—like “Dreams too big to find the time…”—drift over the melody, matching the slow, hypnotic turns of the kite. For me, this is the exact kind of music that makes you want to pack up your kite bag, head to the nearest coastline, and just fly.
A Moment of Peace
For me, “LoFi on a Pale Beach” is a personal reminder of why I fell in love with kiting in the first place: to find a moment of peace, focus, and connection with the wind.
Whether you want to analyze the delicate tension and control required for quality quad-line flying, or you simply need a seven-minute mental escape to the shore, I hope this video brings a little calm to your day. Grab some headphones, pull up a chair, and join me on the beach.
