As always I had a few kites in the back of my car so on my way back home I thought, why not see if there are any cool places to fly!
So I drove around for a few minutes because I had a thought about where to go. In Fredrikstad, there is this fortified kind of old town and outside the city walls, there are a couple of large grassy fields. So I got to one of them and yes, definitely flyable!
Surrounding the field, there are a few buildings and some trees that can make turbulence, just like on Saturday. But there was quite a bit of wind so I gave the A-Quad Hardcore a go on my 35m line set.
The wind certainly was turbulent, and close to the ground even more so. But staying alert and reading the wind it was big fun nevertheless! Especially when flying close to the water at the wooden bridge things got really, really interesting. The closer to the water the less wind, so I really had to work to keep the kite in the air.
But flying in difficult conditions makes you a better kite flyer and improves your skills, so you should definitely give it a go every now and then. And so I did!
