So after a quick pit stop at the house to pick up the Mavic Mini I continued my drive from work to the beach. The winds were to come in from the west and when I got to the beach that was pretty much it!
Maybe a bit lighter than forecasted, but no worries, definitely flyable using the A-Quad Standard!
So I hauled the kite out of the bag together with a 10m line set and a couple of ground stakes that I clipped onto my belt. I assembled the kite, hooked it onto the lines and I was ready to fly..
I was in for some ‘flat stuff’ and pulled off a significant number of reasonably flat axels. Then I tried to flick the kite over onto its back and keep it there. Light input and gentle guiding and it was kind of possible … and repeatable! Cool! ?
After some flying, I put my phone on a tripod and shot some ‘flat’ footage. I also fired up the drone and managed to get a few drone shots of me flying the kite and some B-roll too.
Then the wind died down and rather than finding another kite for that close to windless condition, i decided to squeeze whatever was left of power in those drone batteries and shot some more B-roll.
As the sun was about to dip below the horizon, I packed up my stuff, walked over to my car and headed home. Not bad at all!
