Two more pilots means tweaks to the routine … or … a brand new routine. We went for the latter!

For the past few years, AERIALIS Team Flyers has been a tight unit of three — sometimes four — pilots. Small, focused, agile. We’ve refined our routines, synchronized our timing, and built something we’re truly proud of.

But this year is different.

This year, we are more.

With Niels and Mirjam back in the lineup, the team now consists of six pilots. Six kites in the sky. Six minds. Six sets of hands on the lines.

And with that comes both opportunity and challenge.

Six Pilots – Now What?

Expanding from four to six pilots isn’t just about adding more people. It changes spacing. Timing. Geometry. Energy. The visual weight of formations. The margin for error. The potential for impact.

So the big question quickly emerged:

Do we adjust our existing routine to fit six kites?
Or do we build something entirely new?

Anders took responsibility. He sat down, went through the possibilities, and made a bold decision: we create a brand-new routine designed specifically for six kites.

And we keep the four-kite routine exactly as it is.

Two different team sizes. Two distinct experiences.

A First for Us: Two Kite Types in One Routine

As if building a new six-pilot routine wasn’t ambitious enough, Anders added another layer:

This time, the choreography combines two fundamentally different kite types in the same routine:

  • 2-line kites
  • 4-line kites

Both are kites. Both are precision tools in skilled hands.

But anyone who flies knows they behave very differently.

2-liners thrive on flow, momentum, and dynamic carving.
4-liners offer braking, reverse flight, side-slides, and razor-sharp speed control.

Blending these characteristics into one coherent performance is not just a technical challenge — it’s a creative one. The routine must allow each kite type to shine, while still feeling unified and intentional.

It’s not about showing contrast. It’s about building harmony.

From Concept to Animation

A new routine also means a new animation.

Marco stepped up and took responsibility for visualizing the choreography. The result? A full animation video that gives every pilot access to the routine — both 2-line and 4-line sequences — in clear, structured form.

Now we can sit down in front of the screen and quite literally fly with our fingers before we ever step onto the field.

Finger flying. Mental rehearsal. Formation timing. Micro-adjustments. All before the first real launch.

More Pilots. More Complexity. More Possibility.

Six pilots change everything.

The sky fills differently.
Formations breathe differently.
Mistakes echo louder.
Success hits harder.

But that’s exactly why we’re excited.

This season is not just an expansion of numbers — it’s an expansion of ambition.

We’re keeping what works.
We’re building something new.
We’re blending kite disciplines.
And we’re pushing ourselves creatively and technically.

Now it’s time to practice.

Six pilots.
Two kite types.
One sky.
