I had recently invested in a new pair of sunglasses, and what better way to test them than under the open sky with a kite in the air?
It was one of those clear, promising days, so I headed straight to Huseby Beach in Råde. With a steady onshore breeze blowing at around 7 to 9 m/s, conditions were looking ideal—especially for my 3x vented quad line kite. The air coming in from the ocean was glass-smooth, offering near-perfect wind for the kind of precision flying that kite lovers dream about.
With everything prepped and ready, it was time to lose myself in a couple of hours of pure kite-flying bliss. Just me, the kite, the sky, and the rhythm of the wind. There’s nothing quite like entering that meditative “bubble,” where the world fades away and all that exists is the line tension and the dance of crisp icarex fabric against the sky.
And then, all too soon, it was time to land the kite, pack up, and return to the everyday world. But with a clear mind, a satisfied grin, and wind still humming in my ears, it was hard not to feel grateful for such a perfect session.
Flying days like these are what it’s all about.
