The Nordic Kite Meeting, now in its 27th edition, once again took place in Blokhus, Denmark, bringing together kite enthusiasts from across the Nordic region and beyond.
The week kicks off with what we love most: flying kites on the beach. From sunrise to sunset, the skies are painted with kites of every kind—single-line masterpieces, trick kites, power kites, and custom creations. As the sun dips low, the beach community transitions into cozy evenings filled with kite talk, shared stories, good food, and a drink or two. In short: a perfect blend of beach life and nerdy passion for wind-powered flight.
By the weekend, the energy builds as Blokhus Wind Festival takes over the shore. This family-friendly event stretches along the beachfront and offers something for everyone. From kite-making workshops and a dedicated kite shop, to team flying demonstrations, paragliding, candy drops, and even teddy bears parachuting from kites, there’s never a dull moment. A sea of single-line kites of all shapes, sizes, and colors transforms the beach into a moving art gallery.
One of the highlights? When nature cooperates. With steady onshore wind, clear skies, and pleasant temperatures, the smiles are endless. Even this year’s runaway VIP tent (thanks, wind!) couldn’t dampen the mood.
For anyone who loves wind, color, and community, the Nordic Kite Meeting and Blokhus Wind Festival offer the perfect blend. Once again, a vibrant, windswept celebration that reminds us just how joyful a kite-filled sky can be.
