For some, strong winds might be a reason to pack up and stay indoors, but no worries: I have kites for any kind of wind! In fact, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to try something new.
Today’s plan was a little different. I wanted to fly at a location I’ve visited several times before, but — surprisingly — never with kites. This spot is on the beautiful island of Jeløy, right in the middle of the Oslo fjord. It’s a truly special place, known for its interesting mix of rugged coastline and unique forest areas. Large parts of the island are protected as a nature conservation area, making it a stunning backdrop for both flying and filming.
This time, I didn’t just want to capture some kite flying. I wanted to tell a story with my video — to take you, the viewer, along for the full journey. From my car to the flying spot, I filmed the walk through the woods, giving you a real sense of the surroundings. The forest was heavily marked by the winter storms, with plenty of fallen trees creating a wild, almost dramatic atmosphere.
After a bit of hiking, I finally reached the beach. The wind was strong — just what I had expected — so I set up my triple-vented quad-lined kite. It’s built for conditions like these, and it didn’t disappoint. As soon as it caught the wind, it was pure magic. The kite was stable, responsive, and powerful — an absolute blast to fly.
I’m pretty happy with how the video turned out too. It’s more than just a kite flying video; it’s a little adventure, a glimpse into a truly special location, and a reminder of how the right kite (and the right mindset) can turn a windy Sunday into a day to remember.
