I haven’t been flying a duallie since…. Well, I actually can’t remember. So yesterday I entered the field with a couple of duallies under my arm.

Two favourite dual lined kites of mine, two duallies from German Kitehouse, a Cosmic TC Standard and the (really) light wind version, the Ghost!

It didn’t take long until i was back into the stunt kite mode! The now more than ten years old kites still deliver upper class action … if the pilot is up to it. I think I got pretty close!

I started out with the Cosmic (standard) and it was a sweet reunion with the kite. In the smooth, onshore breeze I let the kite dance all over the wind window. I still can do quite a few moves, and although a few started up with a little rust on them, It didn’t take long to remove it and I rolled out pretty most all the tricks in my book!

As foreseen, the wind started to drop as the sun neared the horizon, and it was about time to haul the light wind kite – the Ghost – out of its bag. The sail is all white and I really love this minimalistic design. It kind of describes the kite, both the way it looks and the way it flies.

And, wow, this kite is awesome! Despite being able to fly in next to nothing, it still can perform all the tricks I know! It’s such a sweet thing to have dancing out there at the end of the lines when the wind is dropping and the sun is setting!

Still Can Do This!

  1. Would you say that quad line kiting contributed anything to duals when returning to them after your long break, for precision/figures, tricking, ideas…? I have not done any dual line for more than a few minutes (Prism 4D during an indoor session) since last summer so I don’t know what I think in this matter yet. On the other hand I have never before felt or focused so much on feeling the kite that I have done since I started the no/low wind short line quad sessions half a year ago. But I guess this is a difficult question to answer.

Though I’m far from your DLK tricking skill, the video encourages one to reach behind the stored quads at home and reach for the dual sleeves. Choosing what to do is not difficult, it is what not to do that is the difficult part.

That’s a good question. I need to take some time and think it over before I can give you an answer.

      Stay tuned! 🙂
