Is the wind strong enough to make the kite create sufficient pull so it will lift my KAP-gear? Now here’s a way to remove most of the guesswork from this question.

As you might have thought out, I’m quite fond of kite aerial videography, photography … or KAP for the convenience. Combining two of my favourite hobbies, kite flying and photography, into one. What can be better?!

But you know, every now and then when I’m out there setting up for a KAP session it’s sometimes difficult to really know if there’s enough wind for the kite to create the pull required to lift the KAP gear. I get everything set up only to discover that, nope, the kite won’t lift the gear.

So I was thinking about how to remove at least some of the guesswork from this issue, and I got this idea. Why not use a luggage scale to measure the pull of the kite? I’m sure that’s possible.

Hmmmm….. This might be a good idea for a video, so let’s go!
