Flying the Good, Old Firebird

Yet another "excavation" down in the basement and yet another kite emerged! This time an old Firebird that I built at a workshop back in 2006.

But was that old (?) kite still in a flyable condition? After a closer inspection, I found all the bits and pieces were in place, all seams seemed intact, the tail was in the bag and after assembly, yes, that Firebird looked like a flyable object. 👍

So with that out of the way, I only had to wait for a time slot for me to go flying. You know, when all this redecorating going on, you have to pick your moments carefully! 😉

Yesterday afternoon I had some time to go flying and soon I found myself on the southernmost spot of a tiny island facing the onshore sea breeze perfectly. The Firebird was the first kite out of the bag and soon it was lying there on the ground, fully assembled and ready to fly.

A recently arrived flying line and a kite line reel I bought at eBay was the perfect match and soon the Firebird soared up there flapping its wings.

Yes! The Firebird still can fly!
